This definitely sparked my curiosity. I did some research and found this on
the CCO:

The following components are required for an MPOA network:
  MPOA Client (MPC)
  MPOA Server (MPS)
  Catalyst 5000 series ATM module
  LAN Emulation (LANE)
  Next Hop Resolution Protocol (NHRP)

Although I would say nothing is guaranteed, this is enough for me that I'm
not putting much (if any) time into MPOA. For those interested, I've
included the URL for the above info.

I have never seen mention of MPOA in the lab. Is it being added now?
I don't think so, but have no idea. I though MPOA really is just like a
upgrade
of LANE but with support for multiprotocol. I am sure there are some other
features that have been added also. If MPOA is now part of the lab
it would seem strange to me especially since LANE has been removed.
I would think what would make more sense would go to more what is really
being used. ie PVC, SVC's, ATM traffic shaping, etc.
