Scott,
Cisco no longer sells any of the 4000 series range of routers, since the end
of November 2000.
But to answer your query, only the 4500/4700 supports certain NPMs that the
4000/4000M+ do not, ATM, Fast Enernet, and 6 port Ethernet modules spring to
mind. This is because the 4500/4700 share the same Orion RISC processor
architecture, as opposed to the 4000/4000M+ which are based on a 40-MHz
Motorola 68EC030 CISC processor.

Are there any ATM modules for the 4000 series router? I've seen the np-1a-mm
on the Cisco price list listed as a "4000 Series Network Processor Module
Option", but everywhere else I look, it seems that the np-1a-mm is only for
the 4500/4700. Is that only b/c Cisco is no longer selling the 4K? Anyone
know what the skinny is on this?
