I'm missing a few concepts on multicasting, and I would appreciate some
assistance here:
1) From the documentation I've read, whether you are a sender or receiver,
you have to register in a multicast group. Is there a difference in the
registration packet?
2) How is the group defined as SM or DM? Is this determined by the router? I
understand the difference in how they work, but I'm missing the mechanics of
how this is negotiated.
3) Does the sender have to know anything about PIM?
Thanks for your time. Allyn
