hehehe... That would be evil... From the folks that I've talked to,
there's still "review" going on, but there will be tracks within the
"Service Provider" series of CCIE. That means that it's not going to be
QUITE that evil. Perhaps one still concentrating on the Stratacom gear, one
on the broadband equipment (which is "broad" enough (forgive the pun)).

But that should make it more attainable. So the guys who have 3 (there are
two of them now, both at Cisco) will still have 3 CCIE's.

And nope, haven't seen any BPXs. I see IGXs occasionally though.

Yes I have heard this too.

The skinny on this is the new SP cert will encompase ALL of Cisco's SP gear.
Wan switches, UBR gear, Dialin access gear, and DSLAMS. It will have the
usual extra heavy dose of BGP as well. Because this is SOOOO much equipment
to configure, a canadate can get one of three types of tests: WAN switching
stuff (IGX, MGX, BPX), Broadband stuff (UBR routers, DSLAMs and
concentrators, or Dialin stuff (AS5300's). You won't know which equipment
you will have to configure untill you get there. YIKES !!!!! I would
imagine that the test won't go into the super great detail of each equipment
class. But, I bet it will super hard anyway, Especially for guys like me
who have never laid hands on stratacom gear. Still, The test reflects the
way the industry is going and should carry some really killer weight.
Hmmm, anybody seen any BPX 8600's on sale on Ebay??? :)
