Tracy,
The best I can generalise is:
1) When you first go in "LISTEN" to exactly what the proctor is saying -
especially if you've never
been in the Lab before - he lays down the general rules so you get to know
whos who, whats where
and your time frames.
2) Quickly CHECK that your CD is working and ask for help if it isn't.
There is always a
library of books in the Lab if your CD doesn't work.
2) Alot of the successful candidates have said they "READ the paper a
couple of times"
before even starting - I think this one is imperative to your design.
3) Don't get stuck on one thing too long - go to the proctor for help. You
might lose a couple
of points but you can still move on - Getting stuck is a common cause of
failure .
4) Some people allocate more time to some questions and leave those they
are unsure of
until last but this depends on the importance of the question to the entire
paper.
5) As always, 95% of things have simple solutions so don't get tied up in
looking for complex
solutions before looking at the simple ones. The Lab is not designed to be
impossible (even
though alot of us have this engraved in our minds) but it is especially
structured to test your
flexibility and your ability to do things quickly wether it be build or
troubleshoot within certain
time constraints.
Can anyone else add anything ?

Subject: Pitfalls
Group;
I have read many briefs from people who have been to the lab, passed
or
not. One thing that I would like to see/ask is...
What are some of the major pitfalls to look for in general lab scenarios?
I can gather several of them by reviewing the questions posted but it would
be nice to have a compilation of all of the major ones so that as we study,
we'll have an idea of pitfalls to look for.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
P.S. So as not to break the NDA, I have worded my question so as to gain
information on "general" labs. Please do not give exact problems faced in
the CCIE Lab.
