You press ctrl+v first before entering the question mark.
Also, as I once found it somewhere, and haven't seen it since, the proper
way to match any is to use the pattern ?*
* means to match multiple characters, which wouldn't match a netbios name
with a single character (not that there are many netbios nodes int he world
named with a single character). ? matches any one character, follwed by *,
would then match everything.
