Hi,

It is not possible to summarise routes in a single area, because all
intra-area routes are calculated from link states (LSAs Type 1 and 2). This
means that all routers within an area share the same link state database,
and you can't change this.

The only way to introduce summary routes is to introduce more OSPF areas -
inter-area routes are similar to distance vector routes in that the LSA
(type 3) that represents the route, corresponds to the route itself. In
this way, a summary LSA Type 3 can be generated easily via the area x range
command.

hi all
have a question,I have only one area (area 0) in my ospf network,one of the
interface's address is 172.10.1.1/24,I want to summaried the route to
172.10.0.0/16,but because I only have one area,I can't use the "area 0
range" command,how can i resolve this problem?and if I meet same question in
lab,what is the best answer?
