I just scored myself a ForeRunner ASX-200BX ATM switch from a local ISP in
return for figuring out how it works and teaching their techs how to
configure Fore ATM switches (the only guy they had that knew ATM is long
gone and they got a bunch of this stuff deployed as CPE).
well to make a long story long I got the box home, punched a serial cable
into it, got the password recovery proc off the Marconi web site, broke into
the box, and found the IOS on the box was Circa 1995. Ouch! Can't even get
Doc for ForeSight v4.0!
No support contract = no software upgrade (cheap a** ISP). Well I did a
little digging around on the marconi ftp site and found they had not set
ACLs on some of their older stuff, which was hidden, but listed with paths
in a text file somewhere on the site (duh). Managed to get up to 5.0 (1997
code)which is alot better!
Basically, I would like to get this box up to late 5.x or even 6.x code if
at all possible. This is for educational purposes only, I would not put the
box into any kind of production environment with unlicensed code. If anyone
would care to give a brother a hand with the ATM portion of his practice
lab, please msg me offline.
Thanks.
