This topics appears quite a bit in this news group...about once every two
months...if you check out the archives (i think it was in July) when it was
last brought up...
But here are your options that I found out -
I narrowed it down to 5 choices....
1. You subscribe to 2 ISDN lines at your house/business (cost/avail will
vary)
2. Purchase an Adtran Switch (by far the most versatile since it is a switch
but the most expensive) I believe the Model number was something Atlas 550
800 (or something like that)...The cost when I researched was from the $2500
and up...It depends on how you configure the switch.
3. Purchase a simulator I found 3 different manufacturers -
a. Black Box ( you can check out their web page but you can find their
stuff cheaper from a reseller)...they had one that was around $2450
list...it was called the ISDN Simulator part number TS225A.
b. Teltone makes two different models -
Demonstrator - which it has a fix SPID/Number around $1855 list
( you can
shop around and the price will vary quite a bit on both of these models)
ILS-2000 - that one cost around $2825 list. Again, you can check
out their web site. (once I even saw one of these on ebay)
c. There was one more company, I can't remember their name, but they ha
d
the most flexible simulator when I did my research...My problem with them
was that you had to buy it from them (no reseller at that time), it was
around $2500 and if you wanted a U interface it was on backorder when I was
shopping for one...I know in the archives should have the brand name...
Good luck and remember to shop around because the prices will vary from the
list to as low as around 20% off. Also, know what type of interface you
want....I prefer the U interface so you don't have to buy a TA.
I would consider the simulator as one of my best return on the dollar...next
to the actual routers itself...

Can anyone provide me with the name/brand of a device that will emulate an
ISDN switch. The ballpark cost for the device would also be appreciated.
Thanks..
