RE: IRDP on Catalyst

No configuration is necessary on the switch. Configure IRDP on the ethernet
ports of the routers. You can turn off ip redirects on the switch and the host
will still preferred the router with the highest IRDP preference (even though
the host had a different router as its default gateway). You only have to have
ip redirects enabled on the routers in the LAN.
You can use HSRP, but the docs seem to prefer using IRDP, unless you have a
router that doesn't support it. I tend to associate HSRP with the words
"redundant" and "failover" and IRDP with "dynamic selection."

What about HSRP? If some event happens, then the standby will become
active, or am I missing the point of IRDP?

I thought I recognized that somewhere. I think people jump to conclusions
about nda sometimes. Art, do you have a solution for the switch? I was
trying to figure that out a couple of days ago.

Actually, this question is off of Bootcamp Lab 17. I'm working on it right
now... And the person who originally asked the question is very close.

John, your last sentence is accurate. I have taken the lab twice.
I am not a tight ass and am all for helping folks learn, but I agree
with David sentiments. Someone on here is going to get burned on NDA, just a
matter of time. Too many BLATANT right off the test questions. Not in the
spirit of the thing, IMHO.
    Out.
