OK here goes-I want to get this straight also, so any of you ATM masters out
there make sure you find something wrong here, as I know I probably won't
get every command just straight, but I want to make sure I understand this
also-

LECS related
lane database
name elan1 server-atm-address ......
lane config-atm-address LES/LEC should use this address for the LECS
lane config config-atm-address LECS should use this listen on this address.
LECS can listen on different addressses

lane auto-config-atm-address-Used by LEC/LES/BUS on subinterface telling
them to use Auto-assigned ATM address for config server
lane config auto-config-atm-address-LECS address IS automatically assigned

lane config fixed-config-atm-address LECS should Use WELL KNOWN ATM forum
address causes some SSRP issues
lane fixed-config-atm-address LEC/LES should use the well known instead of
ILMI auto address

lane config database Associate a certain configuration server with a
selected ATM interface-used only on MAJOR interface-ONE LECS per LANE
domain!!
client-atm-address Send this NSAP/ESI into a certain ELAN

LEC related
lane client ethernet elan1 -activate LANE client assign to this ELAN. If
leave elan blank default elan will be used
lane client-atm-address -Specify a specific ATM address to use for LEC
overriding automatic assignment

LES related
lane server-bus-ethernet elan1 Enable LES/BUS on interface
lane server-atm-address Static LANE configuration assigning manual server
address

BUS related
lane server-bus ethernet elan1
lane bus-atm-address Static LANE configuration. Tell bus to use this static
NSAP/ESI or template instead of automatic assignment

Subject: lane config auto-config-atm-address

>From reading the previous LANE posts and Cisco Documentation...I need a
sanity check from this group if I really understand this or not...

>From my understanding, you only put this on the ATM device that has the LECS
contained on it. Then when you configure a Lightstream, because you told it
where the real lecs is located with the "atm lecs-address" command. When
all other ATM devices attempt to find the LECS by using the well known
address, the Lightstream then directs the connection to the ATM address
specified by the "atm lecs-address" command.

Anything you can add to this will be greatly appreciated...
