Dave,
I believe what you do is this:
        Reboot the Cat5000
when you get prompted for a password, press enter I believe you have
30 seconds to do this.
do the same for enable mod
once you are in enable mode do:
                set password <enter>
                old password <enter>
                new password <what-you-want>
                reenter new password
                password changed

                set enablepass <enter>
                etc.....

        Hope this helps

Subject: Password breaking cat 5000

guys,

What is the secret of breaking into the cat 5k. It is
generally specified that if you press enter when you
see

' cisco systems console '

you have 30 secs to change the password.
i find if you leave it to this point, you miss the
chance of breaking in and the switch wants the real
password. in the lab are you expected to do this from
the console port via a termina server or via a pc with
terminal emulation. i would appreciate a response on
this one. i would be interested to see if anyone has
had problems with this one before. can you break into
the cat 5k if you are using a terminal server ?

regards

dave
