With 12.1 code you can connected two Cisco router bri -to-bri and
issue the following to initiate a call:
isdn call interface bri 0/0 8991000. 8991000 is the number you want
to call. Do not use ios 12.1.1T. I find at
least 2 bugs a week testing this code. But again a simulator is your
best bet. The isdn call command is not sufficient
for real testing purpose.
Thanks

Teletone makes a good 2-line ISDN BRI simulator for doing lab
work. Works with 5ess or ni1 switch types. Will work as a analog 56k
connection too.
Price is not cheap though - $1800.00.
If you need more information let me know or check out www.teletone.com
Talk to you all later.

Sorry. Walter is right. You need a switch to handle the ISDN
protocols. That's where the ISDN sim comes in. I wish you could use
a router to switch ISDN the way you can with Frame Relay.

I do not think so. This is just like you try to connect two phones
with back-to-back RJ-11 cable to "simulate" a PSTN network. Do you
think it will work? :-)
The key concept in all switched networks (cell-switched or packet
switched) is that you need a switch (a DCE device) in between the
end (DTE) devices. In ISDN protocols, there is no TE-to-TE
interface defined. (Review the ISDN protocols' S/T/U interface
definitions and functions.)

Can you connect two BRI or PRI interfaces back to back to simulate
ISDN or connect BRI to PRI directly? I don't have an ISDN simulator
but have BRI and PRI interfaces on my routers
