Subject: can u pls validate...
can someone help me out on the following 3920 t/r switch cfg? (i've already rea
d
the 3920 manual)...i will also consider the previous advice on this list of
manually configuring the ports on the switch to hdx & 16 mb/s...this is what i
did:
r2-to0 & r6-to0/0 are connected via a 3920 token ring switch; I could not ping
through the 3920 switch
I connected r2-to0 & r6-to0/0 to ports 2 & 3 respectively on the switch
then I configured a TrBRF & gave it a vlan id of 100, vlan name of BRF100 & a
bridge number of 1
then I created a TrCRF with a vlan id of 50, vlan name of CRF50 & a ring number
of 50 it automatically assigned it the parent vlan of BRF100
I assigned ports 2 & 3 to TrCRF50
although I was not doing any SRB on the ring & since it was not working, in
desperation I configured spanning tree on both the bridge & the ring - it still
was not working!!
I ran deb ip pac & it said that "encapsulation failed", so I tried to replace
the default SNAP encapsulation on r2-to0 & r6-to0/0 with ARPA but the IOS would
not let me
i was told to configure another TrCRF & TrBRF? if this is the case, how do i ge
t
the first TrCRF/TrBRF pair to communicate w/ the second TrCRF/TrBRF pair?
