Why can I put secondary addresses on the same interface?

I set up the following

interface Ethernet0
 ip address 10.10.3.4 255.255.255.0 secondary
 ip address 10.10.3.3 255.255.255.0

The router IOS allows me to do this. I am wondering why and in what circumstanc
e that this will be
useful?
