I didn't know about ip key config-key command I need to read about that. But
I was using exactly same commands on Ethernet interface , and there is no
problem of authentication between the routers on ethernet segment. This
problem is only on serial link. I was just using following commands:

key chain cisco
key 1
key-string test
key 2
key-string cisco

int s0
ip rip auth key cisco
ip rip auth mode md5

And I also ensured that I have enabled Authentication before defining the
keys.
