Hi Guys,

Here is some tips on Catalyst 3920 TokenRing Switch:

1) According to the configuration guide, with default configuration the switch
is supposed to be autosensing speed and duplex mode of the conncetd routers.
That is if you really don't want more than one vlan in your network the switch
installation is supposed to be plug and play.

But this is not the case in reality. For some cisco router models like
Cisco4500 it deos not detect the duplex mode properly. Infact a half duplex
attached router port it detects as a full duplex one. Remedy is go to port
configuration mode and ensure that the duplex mode is properly detected,
otherwise set it manually from there.

2)To creat a couple of TokenRing VLANS two emulate two tokenrings, one don't
need to be bothered about the bridging modes and STP modes , the default
should work. The shorest way to creat two vlans is to exactly follow the
tutorial whose link is given below. Again check and make sure your duplex
mode:

If you got any doubts on making two TokenRing VLANS work let me know
regards

Muthu
