I'm a little confused on custom and priority queueing. My confusion
mainly arises from the fact that I've got an ISDN connection at home,
and I've setup priority queueing to prioritize 'inbound' traffic. When
I check the queue counters via show int, I never see them change
('input queue'/'output quque'). In addition, 'sh queueing' displays
the queue configuration, but doesn't tell me the amount of traffic
processed through each queue.
My dilema is this:
Does the queueing config need to be similar on each end of the transit
link in order for it to work (i.e. the router on each needs to have a
similar config on the physical int)? That would make for some nasty
queueing scenarios. I don't think this is the case...
I was under the impression that somewhere I should see counters
incremented for traffic filtered through each queue that I have set
up. I've seen diagrams (in ACRC and CCO) for both queueing models, but
I need to know that I'm properly using each queue effectively. Is
there some type debug or show command similar to BGP's 'packet was
policy-routed' ?
I understand how to setup queueing on a interface, but outside of that
I'm a bit confused. I need to effectively test my configs, but don't
know how.
Thanks,
Mike Storie
