Check to make sure the speeds match on the two routers. Also make sure (if
you're setting them to 16 meg) that the MAU is capable of that speed!

Subject: Connecting a Token ring port to a MAU

This is probably a stupid question but here goes-
I have a MAU and am connecting 2 Cisco routers to it. They are the only
devices connected to it. I cannot get the interface up it says
%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface TokenRing0/0, changed state to down
%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface TokenRing0/0, changed state to initializing
%TR-3-OPENFAIL: Unit 0, open failed: Lobe Test, failed
%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface TokenRing0/0, changed state to down
%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface TokenRing0/0, changed state to initializing
any ideas?
thanks,,
