RE: Exam Leave ?

I got little hands-on before my first attempt at the lab - I was 95%
billable almost IMMEDIATELY after scheduling the
lab. I think they had hoped I would pass the lab first time because I
passed the written exam in the first attempt. They
now know there is a major difference between the written and the lab.
Therefore, I'm now getting a lightened workload
while I work on my personal lab (that I brought in from home). I'm not on
any time-consuming projects, but am called
upon for any service calls that involve broken networks, servers, etc. When
I do get time with my equipment, my
timesheets reflect in detail what topic I am working on for any given day.
I'm also keeping a hardcopy trail of the
final configs I come up with from my "lab" efforts if anyone questions what
I've been doing.

My employer paid for the first attempt, but there's a question regarding who
will pay for the second attempt. I KNOW
definitely if there is a third attempt, the entire cost is on me. If I
don't pass the second attempt, I'm going to take
vacation time combined with "time off with no pay" in preparation for the
third attempt.

>From listening to the waiting lab participants, very few get time off (or
even slack time). One guy with a fair
amount of router experience started in 3/99 with two hours every night
during the week and 8 hours each weekend
day. His first attempt was 10/99. He failed. He spent every waking hour
from 10/99 to January preparing for the
second attempt.

Another CCIE I know spent nine weeks straight before his third, final and
successful attempt. However, he owns his
own company, so he can get away with it.

Sorry if I got a bit verbose.

Subject: Exam Leave ?

I am looking for a straw poll of how many of you get study leave, also how
many days,weeks or months
have you get off ?

Regards,
Kevin
