I have used the CIM. I prefer the VLABS from Mentor Labs:-)
However, every little bit helps. To me the CIM is too restrictive. But, if
you don't have any equipment to work on, it sure does beat just reading
about it.
CIM simulates being on a real Cisco router and it's very structured. You
can learn a lot from the CIM software.
But, first find out if you can get anything free(VLABs or CIM) from your
Cisco sales person so you can find out what will work best for your
situation.

It was another sunny day in Halifax. I have just completed the EXAM and
I am
CCIE 5648. Thanks to all those on the list. Especially the Archives.
I was in
such intense study that I fell so behind in the daily mail, but I
managed to
peek a bit. My earlier post about Broadwing's practice lab just earned
more
credibility. I really hope you consider them for your preparation
needs.
Thanks to Sprint ENS (formerly Sprint Paranet) for giving me the
resources that
I needed to complete it. My wife is no longer a CCIE WIDOW and I am
ready to
have my time with my 2 year old son and son on the way.
Cheers,
James Holley, CCIE 5648 & (alphabet soup that doesn't matter any more)
