The actual number of times that you should have to press ctrl -^ (otherwise kno
wn as ctrl-shift-6) is two. I think that the first time you press those keys t
he IOS is waiting for a subcommand like 'x'. The second time you press it it k
nows that you are looking for a break sequence. You shouldn't have to press it
 a third time.
