You are correct. I have played with appletalk many times and I had to reboot on
a few occasions. Especially, when I was configuring access-lists. Shutting dow
n the interface and re-enabling the interfaces did not helped. Not to mention t
hat the NO APPLETALK ROUTING will remove all your AT EIGRPstatements. Also, the
command Appletalk local-routing is not necessary. I have the same configs with
out this
statement. It works fine for me. Also, I found out thru my experiments that App
letalk route-redistribution needed to be added to each router. Caslow and some
other books mentioned the fact that when EIGRP for Appletalk is enabled, this c
ommand is automatic. That was not the case at all for me. By the way, try the s
ame configs with Appletalk tunneling. Configuring Cisco routers for Bridging, D
LSW+ & Desktop
Protocols have similar configs. It is the best book to prepare for CCIE desktop
protocols (IPX, AT, etc). This is the book I used to learn how to make Appleta
lk, IPX, and IP with Frame Relay and Split Horizon work. The logic is to disabl
e split-horizon for DVRP when you a NBMA (like ATM, FR) and all physical interf
aces or multipoint sub-interfaces. Point-to-point subinterfaces overcome the is
sues with NBMA
and split-horizon.
