The pinouts may be right, but if you don't have something (a MAU, for example)
producing phantom voltage on the line, then the card will never insert into the
ring.
Bottom line, you need a MAU.

Subject: Token Ring Crossover Cable!
Date: Thu, 03 Feb 2000 17:51:26 EST
A junior engineer said he found the pinout for a;
4000Router-----DB9Adapter---RJ45Crossover------Token PC
I told him this wouldn't work. He needs a;
4000Router----TokenRingMediaFilter----RJ45Straight---MAU---RJ56Straight----Toke
nPC
He said he found the 9pin adapter and crossover cable pinout on CCO. Is he
nuts ? or am I ? I haven't worked with Token ring since 1996.
