Hi Denton,
I believe the 1604 has a U interface built in, but if your interface is on
a WIC card it may be S/T. If it's a U interface you just put the two wires
from the phone company in the two center pins of your plug. Doesn't matter
whether it's an RJ-11 (4 pins or 6 pins) or RJ-48 (8 pins), no polarity
issues. Usually the phone company will terminate it in a biscuit or some
type of block for you to plug in to. A regular patch cable will work to
connect the router to the jack. Hope this helps!
