Hi
I focussed on LANE in my study. I would recommend you also look at
PVCs and Soft VCs with static mappings. For this you either need two
LANE cards in CAT5000s connected via a 1010 or two ATM connected routers
either back-to-back or again via a 1010. Finally, do some work with
Classical IP.
I don't believe that this early in the CCIE program there will be too
much ATM stuff anywhere, however I cannot categorically state that. So
I would recommend you know the basics and catches, but focus on your
Layer 3 stuff more. Try basing some of your other study using ATM as
the layer 2 where possible. This will probably give you a lot of the
necessary exposure. We all know the broadcast medias quite well - but
there are some tricks to NBMAs.
Good luck
Alex.

Hi Alex,
Read one of your previous follow ups on ATM in August and thought you
might
be a good starting point for my questions. Any help would be
appreciated.
I am scheduled to do my LAB exam in October and I am waiting for ATM
equipment to arrive for our practice LAB. The equipment should arrive
about
a week before the exam so time is short.
The equipment ordered is -
3600
AIP`s
CAT 5500 ASP, LS1010 and ATM modules
I have done some LANE already and studied Config guides for ATM
Could you recommend any strategy for practicing ATM for the exam.
I know there is alot of uncertainty concerning the CLIENT vs SWITCH
scenario
in the exam.
Any info would be great
Thanks
Thierry
