I believe you only have need and ability to change the metric types when
redistributing another IGP into OSPF on an ASBR or at area borders.

Local policy really overrides the general routing table for specified
conditions to enable policy based routing. The need to change an
OSPF metric type within an area simply wouldn't exist as far as I can tell.

I may have brought up a retorical issue, but it proved a milestone
in my understanding.
