Bill,
You got me on that one. I have successfully got the Async int's up and
reporting that they are POINT_TO_POINT and alive and well. I have configured
both rtrs Asyncs as follows:
conf t
line aux 0
modem inout
flow hard
speed 38400
int async 1
ip address 130.130.10.1 & .2 255.255.255.0
async mode ded
async default routing
async dynamic routing
Having done this you'll need to bring the async ints on both ends of the
cable up together (at least within a couple of seconds of each other.) I
guess you've already got this far.
I then have in my "router ospf 100" config as follows
network 130.130.10.0 0.0.0.255 area 1
I am trying to get on demand routing to work across the async's with no
luck. I want the async to be a back up link to area 0 should the primary
serial/frame relay service fail. I have used the interface command "ip ospf
demand" command on the int's. But for some reason when i shut the serial
link down the async won't forward the ospf packets. Do I need to use ddr on
the async int's ? The Async's are up all the time and I would like them to
be down until the serial breaks.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Regards Ian.

Subject: OSPF over async
I'm stumped on this one. I have configured 2 routers to connect
Aux-to-Async. The connection is up and I can ping both sides of the
connection. a sho ip ospf int async # on both interface show they are
configured for ospf. It also shows, under timers, No Hellos (passive
interface)
Why, I have no passive interface commands and the async ports have
"async dynamic routing"????
