Document everything you wish you had in everyday life, Addresses, interfaces,
networks, and important hosts/servers. Really anything you would forget or is
out of the ordinary (or you wished your predecessor had recorded). For example
take a look at the network diagram in one of our samples
(http://www.virtualrack.com/samples/OSPF4-NBMA.PDF). You will note interface
names, network addresses (without the specific host address), OSPF area's, Fram
e
Relay DLCI's, and router names. I normally record everything I need to
configure that router, plus its neighbors.

Writing down a detailed configuration before starting is probably going to far.
But you do want to have enough so you don't have to jump around to each router
router repeatedly to gather information. This takes TIME.
