Hey Billy,

I think AutoNetkit is pretty cool with its visualization capabilities and so forth. However, I donbt find it practical for real-world situations and so havenbt used it much - I configure everything pretty much from scratch.

One significant limitation is the fixed hardware. For example, NX-OSv has a sup in slot one and 48-port gig blades in slots two through five. As such, I canbt just drop in any arbitrary client configuration.

UNetLab looks pretty cool. Is there a lot of community involvement? Hard to imagine a single guy being able to do it justice but then again Dynamips was largely the brainchild of a single individual.

I havenbt touched JunOS in quite some time. It takes awhile to get the fingers to type the correct commands. Some years ago I supported an all-JunOS environment for a client. It took quite awhile to get back into the Cisco swing of things after that gig was up. And I still have a hard time remembering to commit config changes in IOS-XR. :-/

Ibm not convinced that it would be ideal for lab prep (not that I know all that much about the lab these days), but itbs in its infancy, so who knows? I remember getting involved with Dynamips when it was still in diapers, too. That was fun. Still have my Mac Mini/4x3560-8PC lab (lots of dust piling up). Just invested in a pretty hefty DIY server (Shuttle) to handle VIRL memory/CPU requirements. Itbs been quite an adventure, thatbs for sureb&
