To add what Marc suggested.
First Ping the IP 10.x.4.z, then run the #sho ip arp | i 10.x.4.z, this
will show you the Arp entry for that specific host .
Next, follow up with the #sho ip arp | i .m.m.m.m, where m.m.m.m is the mac
address.
Followed by #show cdp nei on the specified port from the above command to
the switch where the host is located.
On each switch along the path use the #sho mac add dynamic | i m.m.m.m, the
MAC will either show up on the uplink to a neighbor switch or on one of the
switchports where your end host is located.
