Experts,
We are considering implementing Private VLANs in order to save public IPv4
space and I am hoping to get feedback from those that have deployed and/or
tested it.
Our main drivers for implementing it is to mitigate the following scenarios:
- Placing Subnet A's servers into Subnet B's vlan due to IP space
limitations
- Unused IP space in VLANs that waste 30-49% of IP space
- Placing secondary IP addresses onto external VLANs due to growth
requirements
- Tedious work in re-sizing subnets due to over-allocating IPs and need
to re-purpose
- Scrambling to get temporary IP space for product launches from service
providers in multiple regions
Given this use-case, would you recommend the technology (private-vlan) or
not?
Best Regards,
Kristian J. Francisco
