Hello,
I run gns3 on windows 7 with 8 GB ram, 7200 rpm HD, and and athlon triple core 3.4 GHz. Only bottlenecks are CPU and HD during router boot up. 7200 routers eat up 256MB ram each so my max is about 24 routers... If my motherboard took more RAM I would definitely double it. IMHO, go big with ram and CPU, hard drive speed is only important at boot up.
Cheers!
