Lets not forget how beneficial GNS3/Dynamips has been for Cisco. You have a
very large number of engineers who learned networking from the ground up in
IOS, because they had an easily accessible emulator. Later down the road,
those engineers will definitely have some bias in vendor selection.

I thought Cisco "got this" when they first started talking about VIRL.
$2,000 USD is expensive, but it depends on how you look at it. One could
easily spend $2,000 on a CCIE R&S rack. A CCIE SP rack is completely out of
the question in terms of cost. I would be HAPPY to spend $2,000 on a piece
of software that allowed me to emulate the devices necessary for the SP.
