If it's for production network, you should be looking at ACLs only.
I've seen CPU being wasted whenever this is implemented in production which
causes a dip in performance of the router.
On the other hand, could use NBAR to learn the traffic and bandwidth
required for your apps if you are unaware, and then later on use the
results to build static ACL list.
