Hmm. I mean this will all due respect, but to wait for an exam so that you remove the need to learn a topology, is not a desired trait in the industry.

While Frame may or may not be needed, it's not that difficult and minimal that you would need to learn. In fact, I almost think you should learn it, for the lab you will most definitely build for yourself after you pass. Frame gives you the flexibility to cable your lab once and never touch it again.

In short, there isn't that much to frame. To learn OSPF over frame is still needed to grasp all of the features of OSPF, but maybe MPF or PPPoFr isn't as much needed. Also, like Marko already called out, there aren't many "advancements" in R/S so your margin of new learning isn't that great. Routing protocols and advanced services are enough to learn on in the meantime.
