Lets say you have subnet 192.168.1.0/24

IOS- ping 192.168.1.0 or
192.168.1.254 and you will get reply from valid hosts.

NX-OS- I have tired
but it is not working.

Great question. I will remember to bring this question to Cisco
directly.

NX-OS still new for layer 3 (so to speak)

Just remember the saying
"Eventually, hardware will fail. Conversely...
Eventually software will work"
