The AD/FD calculation is actually really simple. If your metric is lower than mine, you are a loop free backup path.

any peers will share their topology that's the way it is, if you have network statements or redistribution going on, the routing table will only install the best AD out of any protocols your running exception to this rule is longest match entries which would be preferred.

With EIGRP know the AD/FD rules brother, there's a funky algorithm to calculate the loop free paths!
