Ping in IPv6

In IPv4 we can test all interface by ping 255.255.255.255
Is the same thing can be done on IPv6?

In frame-relay we cant ping self ipv4 address. After mapping it we can.
But in IPv6 we can ping self ip without mapping it.
Why?
