That's correct, you can re-use the same non-area 0 area number because it's not exchanged inside the summary LSA.

Subject: OSPF inter area routing between same area number
Hi Guys,
I did a little ospf lab would like to verify what I noticed with you guys in case if I am missing anything.
Assume I have following topology where area 10 is separated by area 0, In this scenario in area 10 even though area numbers are the same they would typically work as separate areas. so OSPF routing and ospf database would look like same as in a typical topology with 3 areas. I assume reason for this when generating the Summary route by the ABR it does not include what's the source area number (like domain ID in MPLS)
R1-------(Area 10)-----R2-----(Area 0)------R3-------(Area 10)--------R4
Cheers
Sara
