2500 phones for the hardware. Hardware limitations go back to baseline testing and are also a limitation that TAC will support, you can run more, but if you're nearing 2500 users, it's time to start thinking about UC on UCS. CUCM administration -> Server -> Licensing -> License Unit Report for the DLU count and utilization. The 2400 means that each user will have a primary phone, usually taking around 4 DLU's and then adjunct devices that will consume around 2 DLU's each with a maximum of 2 per primary user device. CUWL licensing is designed to provide enough licenses for most of the devices that a user would configure and then some more extra so that you don't run out.

In the end the DLU count is still there, just the purchasing is done a little different. Anyone who orders CUCM on a regular basis can tell you how often that changes :)

Subject: Unified CUCM 8.0 7816-I4 Appliance

Does anyone know how many maximum phones i can have register to a single
MCS7816 CUCM appliance? what is the recommendation

Also can i have more then the recommended licenses or if you reach a limit the CUCM will refuse to intall licenses.

How can i check the CUWL license utilization on the actual server?

Reason i ask is that i have purchased 100 cuwl licenses for two 7816 servers (pub + sub). But when i look at the licence unit report on CUCM its showing 2400 units authorized under the phone licence feature menu. Not sure what a 'unit' means is that the same a license.

im abit confused here ???
