OT - servers between two data centres

Hi

Sorry for OT.

What would the best design be with regards to HA if one server stops
pinging to switch to data centre 2

data centre 1 < (disk replication) > data centre 2
server 1 server 2

would FHRP satisfy the requirement? tested this on some hardware and can
get the switch to take place to data centre 2 but this would be for server
to outbound traffic, I need to also consider inbound to data centre of
customer connections?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
