The next thing I would do is draw out the environment and see if when the switch is "simulated" as removed what would change in the environment. For example, do you lose layer-3 routing ability and layer-2 still works etc or that you are a combination of different spanning tree types and the re-convergence takes minutes to stabilize when any switch is power cycled in your environment.

The only vlan it shares with my vlans on the LAN is vlan 1. No other vlan do they have in common.
