Hi.
I would be surprised that the controller does not support your drive, I have
used old 5400RPM 2.5" drives for testing purposes on these without any
problems. Did you configure the onboard controller in BIOS?
If so, you should see the controller during the boot process.
It needs to be activated in order to see both the disk and the dvd-drive.

What is the difference between the LSI HW/SW Raid ? Could I upgrade the
