That's what I do. I got some used 8 port Digi usb edgeports. I attached
them to my Linux server in the house. Ser2net gives you a tcp port to
serial port just like reverse telnet on a cisco box. I just created a
little shell script that calls whichever device I need. If I type R1 it
executes a telnet to 127.0.0.1 port 3000, etc. Works great and quite
stable. Internally I go directly to the TCP port, externally I ssh to the
server and call the shell scripts.
