Yeh I'd say SSL VPN / IPSec with dual tunnelling (Cisco ASA 5505) this is what I use when I'm at work, it keeps me connected to the corporate environment for when work needs to be done, you could go down the route of creating a Linuxy ssh tunnel through a proxy but you'll find it's over complicated.... time as I'm finding needs to be spent on cli workbooks videos & doccd!
