Re: Load Balancers

Ok load balancers: I've installed lots of the Cisco ACE 4710 and they are ok, the reporting stinks, so if your looking to really see how your servers and services are being reported you need to move to some other Load Balancers.

F5, great load balancer very easy to setup as long as you understand the basics of load balancers , great reporting and statistics , supports virtual load balancers with the ability to support many 10g interfaces.

I've read that the Citrix load balancers are great, as Joe Brunner indicated he loves them so sounds like that have a market share.

Believe it or not, Brocade came out with load balancers, but I have not installed any, their presentation was light on services but being brocade they know their low latency stuff, only falling behind Arista by a few nanoseconds for port-to-port latency.

Bottom line is most load balancers do the basic loadbalancing well but when you want to be fancy and have lots of bandwidth you have to narrow your searches. All in all understanding how load balancers works is the key, there are loads of documents on the Cisco load balancers but F5 I've found it hard to get documentation on .

Regards,
 Joe Sanchez
