All,
I am a long time (mostly quiet) member of this email group. But I must say, months ago, I commented about questions coming from "CCIE Kid" and at the time it came off to many on this list like some unknown is questioning a qualified CCIE who just has questions on another track.
At the time (and frankly ever since) I seriously questioned his qualifications but anyone who has put the time an effort to get their digits would have questions but they come from a certain level of knowledge that CCIE never exhibited in any of his questions.
I don't mean to pile one, but for CCIE Kid (or any other unscrupulous lier out there doing the same), by putting a fake number under their name, it commands a certain level of respect and frankly legitimacy to their questions. It makes us all skip the "did he even do the basic knowledge search and study" before asking the question.
It does the same thing when a network engineering candidate comes in for a job interview and he has his number. It makes most skip the basic technical questions because the inherit assumptions that a network engineer with their digits has a certain level of knowledge.
So when people lie and fake a number, but it ask simple basic questions, most will give them the benefit of the doubt and answer the question for them.
Without that digits the benefit of doubt is not a given.
