High Speed TCP has been created for this. There are modules w/in Cisco that
will support it. It really comes down to buffering. Even with some type of
WAN acceleration, you will need to touch EVERY device along the way,
including provider equipment. Depending on WAN service this could be close
to impossible... I would agree that local caching/deduplication will help
(RB Steelhead, WAAS). Riverbed Steelheads support HS-TCP so might be a good
fit. I am curious to see how TAC steers you.
