Hi Elliot,

This feature is more for hosts than routers especially those using
stateless ipv6 address allocation on a segment wanting to discover what
device should be used as the default gateway, in some ways it could be
thought about as being like IRDP for IPv4

For serial interfaces, the default state command is "ipv6 nd suppress-ra"
and hence it is not visible, if I recall correctly, the opposite is the
case for ethernet interfaces.

As this is mainly about support for hosts and not routers, these commands
do not directly impact IPv6 IGP operation. This link may be of assistance
